Trekking Mate is a Nepal-based adventure travel company offering trekking, mountaineering expeditions and authentic travel experiences across Nepal and beyond. But our story goes far beyond the journeys we organise. Behind Trekking Mate is a family whose livelihood, values and identity have been shaped by the mountains for more than three decades. For our family, the mountains have never been just a destination. They have provided a livelihood, shaped our character and taught us the meaning of responsibility, resilience and trust.
Our Managing Director, Subash grew up witnessing this world through his father, who dedicated more than 30 years to Nepal’s tourism industry. His own journey began as a porter, carrying the weight of other people’s adventures. Step by step, he progressed to assistant guide, trekking guide, mountaineer and expedition leader. He learned the industry from the ground up, understanding not only the beauty travellers come to discover, but also the people, sacrifices, risks and responsibilities behind every journey.
Trekking Mate was born from that experience and a belief that has stayed with us: the true value of travel lies not only in the places we visit, but in the people we meet and the way we treat them.
Our mission is to deliver authentic Nepalese experiences built on trust, safety, honesty and respect for local communities. We want every traveller to receive what they were promised, feel genuinely cared for and return home with memories worth sharing.
Because reaching a summit is only one measure of success. Bringing people home safely, honouring their trust and leaving a positive impact matter just as much.
We want our guests to leave Nepal as friends, return as travellers and become ambassadors for its people and places.
